Determined as they are, Congressional leaders from the medical device states are restarting their campaign to repeal the highly unpopular 2.3 percent device tax that went into effect in January.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune is reporting that Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) has introduced a new bill to kill the medical device tax. Remember that the last bill actually won approval in the House but was never taken up by the Senate. So, at the same time, Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Al Franken (D-MN) are introducing a companion bill on the Senate floor.
Unlike Advamed’s national push to repeal the bill just before it was enacted in January, this appears to be a regional effort, focused on the Midwest. Advamed’s distance from the effort speaks to its chances of getting approved. However, they certainly are a determined bunch…
